Dr. Todd Mabry uses Invisalign® treatments to help patients straighten teeth and prevent hazardous wear to tooth structure, enamel, and the gum line
Scottsdale, AZ – Scottsdale dentist Dr. Todd Mabry prides himself on running a patient-focused practice. Invisalign®, an innovative system of clear teeth aligners, helps patients achieve straighter teeth without the discomfort and self-consciousness many people experience with traditional metal braces.
According to Dr. Mabry, Invisalign® treatments are discrete and do not cause the hassles associated with traditional orthodontics. By using a system of virtually invisible aligners, Invisalign® progressively corrects crooked and misaligned teeth.
“Some people do not realize what they are doing with their teeth,” says Dr. Mabry. “When patients have been living with crooked teeth their entire life, they are often unaware of the negative effects that misalignment may be causing.”
If patients bite heavily on certain teeth, those teeth receive an abnormal amount of wear, which then causes them to become shorter over time. Dr. Mabry notes that oftentimes these individuals do not realize their teeth are cracking through a destructive pattern.
Dr. Mabry highlights that the most important benefit of Invisalign® treatment is teeth become aligned in a way that they will not collide. Instead, teeth move to a more suitable position so that patients will not be constantly wearing down isolated areas of the teeth.
If wear continues to go uncorrected, the patient could develop tooth sensitivity and the tooth could eventually crack. With Invisalign®, Dr. Mabry’s aim is to try to straighten the teeth and affix them in a more suitable position so that wear is halted and the enamel is no longer being destroyed.
Another benefit of the Invisalign® system is hygienic – the clear aligners are easy to remove and clean. Patients can simply take the aligners out to floss, brush, rinse, chew, or drink. “They are more hygienic than traditional braces in that sense,” says Dr. Mabry. He adds that patients do not need specialized cleaning devices such as a waterpik to maintain a healthy mouth during treatment.
At Dr. Mabry’s restorative and cosmetic dentistry practice, one particular patient who had her two front teeth crossed noticed dramatic improvements with Invisalign® within nine months of treatment. Dr. Mabry says the average duration of treatment is 10-12 months, depending on how crowded and misaligned the teeth are at the outset.
Most of Dr. Mabry’s Scottsdale dentistry patients begin to see their teeth shift by the second set of trays and become excited about their noticeable progress. Furthermore, he says his patients become less self-conscious about their smile as their teeth are corrected.
